Project Narrative: |
Phosphenes are an accompanying phenomenon of electrical stimulation of the brain. Sometimes desirable (as visual hallucinations), sometimes unwanted (as distracting and disturbing), but usually well tolerated. The aim of work will be to map the occurrence and character of phosphenes in relation to (1) electrical stimulation, i.e. type, frequency, intensity, location, duration of stimulation and context of individual stimulus; (2) the current objective physiological characteristics of the subject, e.g., EEG, ECG, EDA …; (3) the actual subjective psychological characteristics of the subject. The experiment will be conducted on healthy volunteers using 3 types of electrical stimulation: direct current, alternating current and electrical noise. |
