Project Narrative:
With onset of genetics, numerous forms of monogenic diabetes had been identified in subjects diagnosed formerly as having type 1 or 2 diabetes only. In the proposed project, you are expected to focus on elucidation of mechanisms of MODY onset and progression based on functional validation of abnormalities in enzymatic activity of molecules carrying MODY-associated mutations. Besides the basal enzymatic activity, you will address the effects of preclinically and clinically used pharmacotherapeutics.
