Project Narrative:

Methods of non-invasive brain stimulation include transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial electrical stimulation (TES). Among magnetic stimulation, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is the most used. Transcranial electrical stimulation includes methods that are used in modulating the excitability of the central nervous system. These methods include in particular procedures using transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS).

Non-invasive neuromodulation is, among a number of other indications, also an innovative treatment method in neurorehabilitation with the aim of enhancing the effect of therapy in patients with impaired motor function after a stroke. The project plans to monitor the effect of added neuromodulation using tDCS and rTMS on improving upper limb motor rehabilitation outcomes.

Requirements for student applicants:

Master's degree: physiotherapy, occupational therapy, general medicine
