Project Narrative:
With the onset of genetics, numerous forms of monogenic diabetes were identified in patients diagnosed formerly as having type 1 or 2 diabetes only. In your project, you are expected to elucidate the mechanisms of MODY onset and progression based on functional validation of abnormalities in enzymatic activity of molecules carrying MODY-associated mutations. Besides the basal enzymatic activity, you will address the effects of preclinically and clinically used pharmacotherapeutics.
