At the beginning and during the graduation ceremony photographic, film and sound recordings or videos can be acquired. If someone doesn´t agree with the processing of direct photographic image focused on his/her person, he/she may apply to the provider of photographic services not to take the record, respectively to destroy the material already taken. If any of the graduates did not want to attend the graduation ceremony because of these reasons, he/she may request to get the diploma at the study division.
In a graduation ceremony, the student (Bachelor, Master, Doctor) officially takes leave of Charles University, taking the academic pledge (in Latin) and receiving a diploma which entitles him or her to use an academic degree.
The order of the graduation ceremony is stipulated in Appendix 2 of the Code of Matriculation and Graduation Ceremonies (in Czech only). Graduation ceremonies take place in the Aula Magna of the Carolinum (for graduates of Master's and doctoral programmes) or in the Hall of the ‘House for the Professed’ (Profesní dům) at Malostranské náměstí (Prague’s Lesser Town Square - for Bachelors). The graduation ceremonies feature University insignia (in Czech only), and University officials wear academic gowns.
